Good Girl Evelyn

You may remember the post about how Evelyn hates to go to sleep and has to scream in her crib for at least 10 minutes before she will finally go to sleep (and that she won't sleep anywhere else). Well, my baby girl is starting to become a good sleeper! For the last week, when I put her down for a nap or to bed for the night, she lays in her crib and talks to her stuffed animals while listening to her lullabies, and then quietly falls asleep! The first few times I thought it was just a fluke. But no! It always made me feel so bad to listen to her scream even though I knew it was best. Now, it still brings a tear to my eyes to see how grown up and independent she is becoming.

Oregon State Fair

On Thursday we went to the Oregon State Fair. We got a much later start than planned (apartment stuff, ich) but still had a lot of fun. There was a reptile exhibit and Evelyn got to pet some sort of prickly reptile. We also took her to the petting zoo. She wasn't sure what to think of all the animals. She really likes the cats that live next door, but deer, pigs, and goats just aren't the same. While we were petting a little pig, we got attacked by some goats! One even tried to eat Evelyn's shirt right off her back! Those goats will eat anything. And there was one goat whose back was as high as my waist. The thing was HUGE. The fair now has a rodeo at it (new since 2006 at least). Evelyn enjoyed it about as much as the Molalla Buckaroo on July 4th, so my mom took her out. By the end of the day, my little girl was plum tuckered out and curled up in her jammies in her stroller. It was really nice to get away from the apartment (and the apartment renting) for a day.
